On the Inside

There is something in all of us that likes to be in the know. We want to be the first to hear things, the first to say certain things, the first to notice, the first to experience.

I heard some good news the other day, and I realized I was a little hurt that I hadn’t heard it when the “first-tier” people did. Iykyk.

Then I asked myself why it bothered me. I realized it wasn’t just about the news—it revealed something about where I actually stood in that person’s life versus where I thought I did.

But then the Lord redirected my thoughts. Hallelujah!!!!

I’m so grateful that I have the Good News. Every word written in God’s Word is available to me. He doesn’t hold back truth or play favorites with revelation. He has already written it. It’s up to me to search for it, pursue it, meditate on it, and apply it. Those disciplines keep me “in the know” where it matters most.

I also realized there’s another reason being “out of the loop” stings. Something in all of us likes to be able to say, “I knew that already.” Maybe it’s a subtle way of feeling important. Maybe it’s a quiet flex.

I’m asking the Lord to remove my need to flex in any way. I don’t want my significance to come from being first to know something. I want it to come from being close to Him.

His Word says in Isaiah 43:4: You are precious and honored in God’s sight. Inserting my name to personalize this – Isaiah 43:4: Rita, are precious and honored in God’s sight. Hallelujah! Isn’t that all we, I really need?

He will help me, and you!

Rita
